Smart home technologies collect and process an extensive amount of sensitive user data—ranging from voice commands to sensor logs—capable of revealing intimate details about household routines. Ensuring transparency around these data practices is vital for user trust and compliance with regulations like GDPR. Our research introduces PoliPoly, a novel framework leveraging ChatGPT-based analysis to visually extract and display key points from privacy policies. Unlike conventional solutions requiring large annotated datasets, PoliPoly adopts an ontology polymorphism approach, allowing quick customisation for diverse user needs—such as residents in a smart home environment. By highlighting data types, usage purposes, and sharing practices in a user-friendly graphical interface, PoliPoly helps end-users understand how smart home device manufacturers handle their personal information.
